Manage your Substack experience
... customise it so you get less of what don't want and more of what you do.
As an ADHDer myself, I know that emails, notifications and new posts can sometimes feel overwhelming or unhelpfully distracting. I invite you to fully customise your experience of reading my posts to whatever best suits your habits and preferences. It might help you to:
1. Turn off notifications and recommendation emails from Substack, follow these steps (I recommend this).
2. Turn on ‘Smart Notifications’ in the Substack App by following the guide here.
3. If you decide to unsubscribe, you can do so at any time using the link at the bottom of any email you receive from me.
4. Text-to-Speech: if you get easily distracted while reading text articles, you can listen to them instead, by using Substack’s text-to-speech feature on the mobile app. Just tap the little triangular play icon in the top-right corner of any post. (Note: This feature isn't available on desktop.)
5. Captions for videos: all my videos have captions, so you can read along as you listen.
6. Managing Substack emails: Substack occasionally sends emails about new features or to recommend other publications. If you’d like to turn these off, follow these steps: How to stop receiving emails from Substack.
7. Substack help centre: you can ask Substack any questions about how it works or how to personalise your experience further here: Substack Help Center.
